Teddy Eddie Superhero

The level for first graders. At this level, little learners focus on speaking in full sentences. They master a wide range of words, sentences and phrases, and it's likely they will begin to use them spontaneously, not just in the classroom. In addition, they learn how to function in their class environment in English, which helps them to become more comfortable with using the language in everyday situations. This early foundation sets the stage for continued language development as they progress.

FAQ

Do you need to work with the apps at home?

Apps are an essential part of our methods as they help introduce and consolidate vocabulary and increase exposure to the language. However, in schools with daily or almost daily lessons, teachers may choose to use the app during class time. In exceptional cases where the app is not used, we recommend practising vocabulary with paper-based materials.

Can a new student join the class at any time?

The Teddy Eddie, Savvy Ed and Edward’s League methods produce clearly measurable progress in students’ language competence. If a new student joins a class, their communication and lexical skills should be similar to those of the group, though apps can help close small gaps. In some cases, the school may offer additional remedial classes to ensure smooth integration.

How is the English to Grow programme different from the Teddy Eddie, Savvy Ed and Edward's League methods at a language school?

The core teaching materials (textbooks, word cards, picture cards, recordings) are the same, but the English to Grow programme includes extended worksheets that complement the three methods with content from the core curriculum. Additionally, the structure of classes and homework expectations may vary due to the different duration and timetable of lessons. Homework can often be completed during class time at school.

How is a student's knowledge assessed?

Both the Savvy Ed and Edward’s League methods have credit systems (Test & Pass and Credits, respectively) that outline the skills students need to master. Earning credits is necessary to move on to the next level. Teachers also use Achievement Diaries in which students can track their progress and assess themselves. This encourages language self-awareness and intrinsic motivation. For the Teddy Eddie Superhero level, there is a simpler version of the diary to monitor progress.
